Web Development with Django

This course offers a practical introduction to Django, a powerful Python framework for building secure and dynamic web applications.

Application Deadline

June 10

Schedule

Tuesday – Thursday from 17:30 – 20:30 & Saturday from 10:00 – 13:00
Abstract

This course offers a thorough, hands-on introduction to Django, a powerful and popular web framework built on Python. Students will learn to build full-featured web applications from scratch, covering both frontend interaction and backend data handling using Django’s tools and structure.

The course emphasizes practical learning through in-class coding sessions, guided exercises, and independent assignments. The focus is on learning how to design and build dynamic web applications by understanding how different parts of Django interact—models, views, templates, and URLs. Students will engage with Django’s Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) system to manipulate databases, and they will be introduced to Django REST Framework for building APIs. The learning approach emphasizes step-by-step logic and a strong understanding of request-response flow in web development.

Who is this course for
  • Python programmers who want to transition into web development by learning Django.
  • Developers with some backend experience in other frameworks looking to expand their stack.     Developers with some backend experience in other frameworks looking to expand their stack.

  • URL routing
  • Views (function-based and introduction to class-based)
  • HTML templating using Jinja (Django templates)
  • Working with Models and the Django ORM

Methodology

Theory -> Practice with help -> Practice without help

Each lesson will begin with a clear explanation of concepts, followed by guided coding exercises with solutions, and finally, independent practice challenges. You’ll build web applications as you go, reinforcing every new idea through immediate application. By the end of each chapter, you’ll face real-world problems that integrate the lessons, requiring full understanding of Django’s components and how they work together. You’ll also build and refine projects throughout the course that showcases your understanding and can be used as a portfolio piece. If theory doesn’t stick, practice surely will.
