Starts the Global Entrepreneurship Week

On Monday at the Innovation Centre Kosovo (ICK) started the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2013 (GEW 2013) ICK is among international organizations from 135 countries that during 18-24 November 2013 that are hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW 2013).

For the first time ICK representing Kosovo, is a part of a selected group of leaders advancing entrepreneurship around the world, driven by thousands of organizations and companies.

For one week during November 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Week will be present also in Kosovo through the fourth edition of the Prishtina Startup Weekend (PSW) organized by ICK at the centers premises during the weekend of 22-24 November. Events such as PSW organized during Global Entrepreneurship Week inspire people to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors—introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

“This is the first time that Global Entrepreneurship Week is being organized in Kosovo under the organization of ICK and I use this opportunity to invite as many young people to be part of this global activity dedicated to entrepreneurship”, said Uranik Begu – Executive Director of Innovation Centre Kosovo.
During Global Entrepreneurship Week are expected to be organized around 20,000 activities worldwide including bootcamps like Startup Weekend and competitions like Startup Open. Innovation Centre Kosovo has organized three editions of Startup Weekends during 2011 and 2012.  Among the 2012 Global Startup Battle Finalists qualified also Xiiik team from Kosovo that designs 3D games with cross platform support. Xiiik won the second in this global startup competition.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators, who launch start-ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. GEW global sponsors are Kaufmann Foundation and Google.

Thousands of brand new start-ups spring to life through bootcamps like Startup Weekend and competitions like Startup Open. Hundreds of universities strengthen connections that help them commercialize research from their labs. Serial entrepreneurs share their expertise through activities like EO24, run by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and practical training courses like FastTrac.
