The Innovation Centre Kosovo to cooperate with Yunus Social Business (YSB) Albania on the “Accelerator Program” for year 2014, which aims to bring business ideas to their destination, taking on board aspiring entrepreneurs and impacting local communities.


Yunus Social Business (YSB) helps create social businesses around the world. YSB sets up incubator funds across the world, helping people in developing and emerging countries to become successful entrepreneurs through financial support but most importantly through training, coaching and mentoring as well as access to local and global networks. YSB has been co-founded by Peace Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus to scale his experience in setting up over 40 social businesses in Bangladesh.

Daniel Nowack, program director Albania

Daniel is responsible for heading YSB’s activities in Albania.  Prior to YSB, Daniel served as Finance Director for a startup incubator, where he managed financing rounds, setup of reporting structures and organizational setup of multiple online and mobile startups. Before that, he was Project Manager at the Grameen Creative Lab, where he oversaw partnerships with corporations and non-profit organizations and played a key role in organizing the Global Social Business Summit 2011 as well as the first German Social Business Forum. Daniel’s early professional experience includes process optimization in financial planning & management reporting for Merck & Co. Inc. as well as controlling and budgeting as Senior Financial Analyst for Europe and Emerging Markets. He holds a Diploma from University of Cooperative Studies Stuttgart and a Bachelor from Glamorgan Business School, Wales.

Shkelzen Marku, country director, Yunus Social Business Albania

Shkelzen heads YSB’s activities in Albania. Prior to YSB, Shkelzen was Executive Director of the Mountain Area Development Agency (MADA). He also worked as Director General of Agriculture and Rural Development Policies in the Ministry of Agriculture in Albania. He is a co-founder and president of the Partnership for Development Foundation, and a visiting professor at the Economics and Agribusiness faculty of the Agriculture University of Tirana and the Economics faculty of the European University of Tirana.

Shkelzen holds a PhD in Rural Economic Development Policies (AUT, Albania), a MSc in Management of Rural Development Policies (CIHEAM-IAM, Montpellier, France), and an Agriculture Engineering Diploma (CNEARC, Montpellier, France).

Uranik Begu is a highly experienced management and marketing executive, who currently is serving as an Executive Director at Innovation Center Kosovo (ICK). Prior to his work at ICK, Uranik has served as Head of Marketing and part of a management at Post Telecom Kosovo for four years.

Uranik is currently close to completion of his Doctorate degree in Management, at Swiss Management Center. He is also a renowned lecturer and has taught at several private universities, and the public university of Prizren. He also serves as a Board Member for the largest European Marketing Conference held in Zurich, the CMO Conference, also known as Davos of Marketing.

Uranik since six years ago is an active member of the Economic Development Council of Prishtina.

Daklea Xinxo, social business entrepreneur from Albania

Daklea is the founder of the social business “Seniors’ House” which offers services and education, aiming to promote independence, dignity and quality of life for the elderly in Albania. Seniors’ House was successfully funded by YSB Albania and has been operating in the market for almost a year. In addition, Daklea has been managing, Qendra MIKE, a kindergarten, for the last 5 years and was previously Director of Human Service Directorate at Tirana municipality, Chairwoman at the Albanian Adoptions Committee and Director of Children’s Home (an orphanage).  Daklea finished her business and management masters degree from University of Bologna and her bachelor’s in social works from the University of Tirana.

Leonard Dalipi, senior business consultant, Yunus Social Business Albania

Leonard works closely with social businesses so they are successful in their business acceleration phase, receive funding, achieve growth and make social impact in the long term. Previously, he worked in finance for Raiffeisen Bank and ProCredit Bank in Kosovo. In addition, as an MBA student, he worked in a student start-up in the crowdfudning industry; a farmer cooperative project for a Haitian organization; and did research about venture capital, angel and crowdfunding investing for the Rocky Mountain Innosphere, an incubator in Colorado.
Leonard has received his MBA in Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise from Colorado State University and also holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and International Business from Graceland University, U.S.A.
